Graduate Writing Support

In partnership with the Student Success Center and UAF Graduate School, the CTL offers tailored writing support to graduate students with a focus on longer form projects like theses and dissertations.

Writing support is available for UAF graduate students at all stages of the writing process. From defining your questions or crafting a proposal to working through dissertation structure and edits, tutoring and other resources are available to get you over the mountains and through the woods of your writing process. Unsure if you have a process yet? Book an appointment to meet with Victoria, our graduate writing support specialist, who will work one-on-one with you to to sort questions big and small.

Victoria Oyewola

Victoria Oyewola joins UAF as our Graduate Writing Support Specialist, working directly with graduate students to enhance their research writing skills. With a Ph.D. in Engineering Education (Utah State University, 2024) and over a decade of experience in teaching, research, and mentoring, Victoria brings expertise in academic writing, qualitative and quantitative analysis, and manuscript preparation. She is passionate about supporting students at every stage of the writing process, from brainstorming to revising theses and dissertations, while fostering productivity and confidence among graduate writers. Victoria will offer one-on-one tutoring for graduate students in all disciplines online and in-person in the Student Support Center’s Writing Center. Graduate students are encouraged to reach out to Victoria and book an appointment for support at any stage of the writing process, whether trying to map out the big ideas or sorting through edits.

Drop-in Hours

Victoria offers drop-in support at the UAF Writing Center, located inside the Student Success Center on the 6th Floor of the Rasmuson Library. Victoria’s hours are:

Monday: 10am-12pm, 1-3pm

Tuesday: 1-4pm

Wednesday: 10am-12pm, 1-3pm

Friday: 10am-12pm, 1-2pm

Get Your Writing Done

Open Writing Sessions are 10am-12pm every Friday and are an opportunity to connect with other UAF writers and build community around working through writing projects. Facilitated on Zoom by the UAF Center for Teaching and Learning, these sessions offer quick tips to help you build productivity in your writing and then reserve the majority of the session just for you to write.
