iTeach Online

iTeach Online is self-paced and consists of five modules. Participants will be guided through preparing course materials, such as a schedule, learning objectives, and syllabus, with support and feedback from facilitators. The time estimate for completing all five modules is 30-40 hours. Participants who complete required activities will recieve a certificate of completion from UAF Center for Teaching and Learning.

This course will provide you with an opportunity to learn instructional practices that support student learning while preparing or revising a course. With a foundation in instructional design frameworks of Universal Design for Learning and Backwards Design, participants will learn to craft an evidence-based and flexible course design process that can be applied to an upcoming course design and beyond.

Eligibility: Applicants must be UAF instructors (including grad students) or staff.

Certificate 2024 – OER Foundations

Using and creating Open Educational Resources (OER) is an excellent way to help make education more affordable for UAF students. Instructors who complete the OER Foundations Certification course have a full understanding not just of what OER are, but where to find them, how to assess them, and even how to create them themselves. In addition to completing a self-paced online course on the topic, these instructors will get support in revising one of their courses to become a NoLo designated course, and thus more affordable for students.

OPTION 1: Obtain the OER Foundations Certification, which shares foundational concepts in open educational practices [2-3 hours].

OPTION 2: Obtain the NoLo Course Transformation Certification, in which you will first work through the OER Foundations course and then revise at least one course to meet UAF’s NoLo requirements. You can work with an instructional designer at CTL to help with this process.
