Month of Writing
The month of writing happens for one month out of each semester (October, February, June) and features facilitated writing sessions as well as opportunities for professional development and feedback in academic writing.
UAF writers are invited to join a Month of Writing, with writing sessions every Friday and a supportive community of writers to keep you accountable. Participants can expect to develop new skills for navigating academic, technical, and creative writing as well as techniques for productivity and wellness in our writing practices. We hope to build a broad and supportive interdisciplinary writing community.
Participants should plan to join at least one 2-hour writing session per week. There will be optional writing workshops where writers can get feedback on their works in progress. All sessions will be virtual on Zoom.
We continue to offer a drop-in “Open Writing” session at 10am-12pm every Friday throughout the academic year. Register for open writing sessions.
Participants choose at least one “Writing Session” per day, and join a Zoom meeting at the start and end of the session to help prompt and debrief the work.
