Shayla Sackinger

After working for us for multiple semesters as a student worker while she completed her BA degree, Shayla joined UAF CTL as a full-time employee 2022. She has been a professional artist since 2015 and focuses on creating meaningful pieces in ink and watercolor that convey the beauty of the world around her. Shayla uses her skills to expand on CTL’s graphic design and illustration capabilities. Outside of work, she is an established artist that goes to conventions around the country. She is an active part of the online gaming community and is an Ambassador for Guardians Mental Health and part of the official Bungie Creator Program.

Learner-Generated Drawing Holds Potential for both Learning and Assessment

In learner-generated drawing activities, students employ multiple cognitive and muscular skeletal processes to produce illustrations based on verbal, text or other information. When properly supported as a learning activity, students tend to retain information longer and more accurately, than traditional methods.
