MILL Makerspace November Challenge
What Are You Thankful For?
Now is a great time of year to pause and reflect on what brings joy and gratitude into our lives. Whether it’s the people who support us, hobbies that bring us happiness, or moments that have shaped us, acknowledging what we’re thankful for helps us focus on the positive things in our lives. Turning our attention to gratitude and other aspects of positive psychology (mindfulness, kindness, intrinsic learning and life goals) has the power to improve our outlook and general wellbeing in all aspects of our lives.
For this month’s challenge, sit down and do a 10-minute free write that starts with: “I am thankful for (fill in the blank) because (fill in the blank).” Use your writing as a prompt to create something meaningful in The MILL, with a goal of using the making process to focus your attention on gratitude. that captures your feelings of gratitude.
Create and Share:
- Use your writing as inspiration for a watercolor painting that connects with what you’re thankful for.
- Design and make a thoughtful gift for the person or people you’re grateful for and share the story behind your creation.
- Make a small sculpture or 3D-printed object representing an item or memory you cherish, and display it in the MILL gallery.
- Use the sublimation printer to transfer a custom design or message of gratitude onto a tote bag, mug, or other everyday items that bring joy.
